Nico Tomacelli
Objective
To build relationships of every level with sponsors that enables me to promote their product through regional exposure while allowing me to set and pursue my goals in road racing.
Biography
My name is Nico Tomacelli and I am a privateer road racer from Issaquah, WA. 2007 marked my first year as an expert road racer in the Washington Motorcycle Road Race Association (WMRRA). I began the season with an impressive 5th place finish in Open Supersport. From then on I continued to make excellent progress in my racing. By the end of the season, I reduced my lap times a full 2 seconds lower than what my original end of season goal of 1:33. Although I started out the season with some pretty aggressive goals, I was able to accomplish even more than I thought possible. I look forward to what I can accomplish in 2008!

Community Involvement
- 2008 WMRRA Novice Rider Representative. As the novice rider representative, I will be making changes to outsource our new racer course (NRC) to track day organizations to improve the quality of instruction to our new novices a well as increase track time for our race days. I represent all Novice riders at Executive Board meetings, as well as handling any questions, problems, clarifications, or support the riders in any way that I can.
- Seattle 100 - Fundraiser for Nephcure. I have participated in this event for the last 3 years. It is an event where local road racers raise money in their communities for a non-profit charity that handles kidney disease, Nephcure. Over the course of my involvement, I've raised over $11,000 in 3 years. You can read a press release issued by Road Racing World about this year's event here: http://roadracingworld.com/news/article/?article=26588
- Intermediate Captain, Control Rider for Northeast Sportbike Association (NESBA) track days. As a volunteer control rider in the Intermediate groups, I helped mentor riders at basic and more advanced skills for operating their motorcycles on a track. Helping give back to a community that has given so much to me. As captain, I helped ensure that all of our control riders were helping riders and giving the customers the best possible experience.
2008 Season Plans & Goals
As we approach the 2008 season, I've once again set my aim (and goals) high! 2008 will mark my 2nd expert season and I hope to pick up right where I finished off last season. Over the offseason, I will be updating my equipment to two 2006 750's. This upgrade will allow me to have bike setups to cover more situations and classes. Not only will I be working on improving my equipment but I am also training to improve myself. Endurance cardio training and strength training are two of my personal top priorities. 2008 will also mark the first season I'm eligible to apply for an AMA Professional license. I consider this to be my toughest yet definitely achievable goal for 2008. I have set some tough but reasonable goals for 2008 and feel confident that I can accomplish each and every one of them - no question.
Specifically I hope to accomplish the following goals.
- Increase support from sponsors by outlining additional opportunities
- Race full schedule at WMRRA & several dates @ OMRRA
- Consistently finishing in the Top 10 in all 4 of my primary classes: 750 Supersport, 750 Superbike, Open Supersport, and Formula Ultra
- Turn an average lap time in the 1:28's at Pacific Raceways
- Compete in at least one AFM(California) or WERA West(Utah/California) race
- Accumulate 300 points, enough to apply for my AMA Professional license
- Have fun!
