Hi everyone,
2006 marks the beginning of my racing adventures. To all my family,
friends, and sponsors; thank you for your support and encouragement. I
appreciate it greatly. For those that I haven't met and stopping by,
thank you. I hope you enjoy the site. I thought I'd share some
information about myself that everyone may or may not know.
Name: Nico Tomacelli
Racing numbers: 923
Racing Organizations: WMRRA & OMRRA
Bike: 2005 Suzuki GSXR750
Age: 27
Residence: Issaquah, WA
Home track: Pacific Raceways
How did you get started in racing?
It started after my addiction to the track. I rode my first
track day in April of 2005. It was like a drug. I instantly became
addicted. My bike saw more track miles than street miles last year.
I started to spend more and more time at the track and developed some
friendships with racers. One of them was Allister. Allister
encouraged me to come out and give racing a try and being that I'm competitive
and always down to try something new, I said sure.
What is your favorite track?
Without a doubt. Thunderhill. The track has everything.
Eleveation changes, camber changes, straights, tight corners, tricky
corners. I really love everything about that track.
What's your proudest moment in racing?
So far it was running in my first Novice race on April 2nd,
2006. I finished the race and did so without crashing. The last
couple of laps I spent battling it out with another racer. I kept trying
to take him on the brakes but just couldn't manage to pull it off.
Finally, in the last lap going into the final corner, I was able to outbrake
him and jump out in front. Not sure what place it was for, it was racing
and that is all that matters. It was such an exhilirating feeling.
What's the best thing about racing?
The competition and the fact that at the end of the day, most of us are friends
out there having a good time. I couldn't think of a better way to spend a
weekend.
The worst thing?
Crashing sucks and its expensive. Racing in general is
expensive, but then again I always say. You cannot put a price tag on fun
or an experience.
Your weak point?
Confidence. I need to be more confident when going into corners. I
have a tendancy to do all my braking before the corner instead of trail braking
the corner more and carrying more corner speed. Definately something I
have been working on.
Do you have a favorite racer?
It's hard not to say Rossi. The man is a god on 2 wheels and the mind
games and his ability are just amazing. I also enjoy watching Mladin,
Spies, Zemke, Holden, and Hayes in AMA.
What are your future racing goals?
This year my goals are pretty basic. My plan is to finish my Novice
requirements for OMRRA & WMRRA and graduate to Expert. I would like
to run at least 1 Expert race in each organization this season. A top 10
finish would be awesome but I think may be a bit much to ask my first year out.
